mission of Early Head Start is to promote healthy
prenatal outcomes for pregnant women, enhance the
development of very young children, and promote health
family functioning. |

What
is Early Head Start?
Early Head Start is a unique program embedded in
regular Head Start that provides comprehensive
services to low-income expectant parents and
families with infants and toddlers. Early
Head Start was started in 1994 by the US
Congress. Funding is available to
localities as part of a competitive federal
grant program and in 2001 Caddo Community Action
Agency was awarded an Early Head Start grant.
Who
Qualifies for Early Head Start?
CCAA Early Head Start is funded to serve 60
children, birth to three years old and their
families to include 10 expectant women.
Eligibility requirements include: residence
within the service are (the Highland/Stoner
Hill area), meeting federal income guidelines
and ability to transport children to the Early
Head Start Location - Arc of Caddo-Bossier's
Goldman School, 351 Jordan St.,
Shreveport LA. |

| Application
Information |
Applications
are taken year-round, and a waiting list is maintained
should openings arise during the year.
Applications are
accepted from expectant mothers
and from parents of
young infants and toddlers in the Highland/Stoner Hill
area.
Early
Head Start applications are available at the Arc of
Caddo-Bossier.
NOTE: Applications are currently sought from expectant women
and families with infants, birth to three, in the
Highland/Stoner Hill area.
